Firstly, I am not a Ukrainian, but would like to point something out that may have a root cause for the problem in Ukraine.
And other than appreciating the Klitchko brothers in MMA, there's nothing that comes to my mind as being memorable about Ukraine.
However, I wanted to know where the hatred for Russians by the Ukrainians came from.
The Ukrainian "Maidan" episodes DID become a transitional Ukrainian period; but I wanted to know more, there must have been more to fuel the fire that some Ukrainians hold against the Russians.
I was sure it wasn't as simple as Russian media was portraying the war in Ukraine. By Russian media, America is to blame REGARDLESS of what the bloody article is about (for instance, also in today's russian news is an article about a new Russia-Africa alliance (a business agreement). The article DID NOT mention anything about America at all but in came the comments that america should be surrounded and destroyed. hmmmm.....so america magically made the war happen and is therefore to blame for the Russian bombs and invasion into Ukraine.
Oh I get it! It's so simple...
The murders? (america's fault), destruction of Ukrainian property (america's fault), even the Russian invasion is (america's fault), etc..
I knew instinctively that there must be something we in America are unaware of (LOL), but was there anything else that maybe Russian media is leaving out of the loop? What could possibly make the Ukrainians feel so strongly against the Russians (even before the invasion)?
There are a few things, not least of which is this bit of history:
Under Joseph Stalin (1953?) an estimated 3.9 million Ukrainians were starved dead.
hmmm.....maybe.....maybe it's NOT America that is the problem here?
If my family tree had deceased spots caused by the (pick your nationality), I would hate you too. My point is that I've come to change from sympathizing with the Russians to finding outright lies made by the propagandizers of Russia that are easily disproved, to nowadays sympathizing more with the Ukrainians (not that I'd ever want to fight for them though).
