Put Bluntly (till I edit the words below) Batteries Plus is selling fraudulent "Duracell" Batteries.
Here's the reality:
Batteries Plus is selling "Duracell Batteries" that are not made by Duracell.
However the prices being racketed-in reflect the cost as if they were a name-brand battery, such as a "Duracell".
Put it to the test yourself, call Duracell in an effort to gain some necessary information pertaining to either of the batteries mentioned below.
Start your call off like this:
"Hello, I'm so-and-so and purchased some of your SLI6V305S Batteries but have a question pertaining to PWM Rate, Float Rate, and the Maximum Charge Rate of these Batteries."
Duracell will inform you that Duracell did not make those "Duracell" batteries.
In my instance, because I not only purchased a few of the aforementioned batteries, but also a slew of the SLIGC125 "Duracell" batteries throughout the years (these have ALWAYS been bad batteries for me and would never have known until I finally broke down and bought a non-duracell battery). Batteries Plus finally yeilded the truth, the "Duracell" fakes are made by a company called Deka (sp? Dekka?).
Calling Duracell again and pursuing how a virtual monopoly in batteries sold to the public via Batteries Plus, I am told that Batteries Plus simply "bought the Duracell label".
Is that not the most outrageous impropriety?
They bought a freaking sticker!
So You might be asking, if the "Duracell" Deep Cycle Batteries, costing between $100.00 - $300.00 each, depending on which of the verified batteries I've mentioned above, are not authentic Duracell Batteries, what then?
Being a bit more inquisitive, I again contacted Batteries Plus for answers and was told to call Deka for my answers pertaining to the "Duracell" batteries (that are NOT Duracell Batteries and only have a sticker to decieve and defraud the unprivileged private sector).
My contention is, If I wanted to invest in a Deka Battery, I would have bought a Deka Battery (as opposed to being lured into a knee-deep investment before finding out the reality and derivation of the batteries sold by Batteries Plus). This isn't a case of fraud, really? How so?
At one time, this used to be ILLEGAL and considered a racket. These days we have only the appearance and facade of business restrictions, which appear to only be enforced upon the non-monopoly entities, the mom-and-pop stores.
Imagine if you came to me and purchased a dell computer, the label says dell, and it looks like a dell, in fact the marketing contained on my site says it's a dell, I even verbally tell you that the computeris a Dell, but later you find out that I packaged a poopie instead? Now what? Donate to the Courts of Justus and file a suit?
It sure is a sad time to be a consumer in America's depleted economy nowadays.
Below are personal sentiments at the given moment in time.
Big deal you say?
Well let's change the scenario from Corporate to Private and see what might be lurking in your mindset then.
So I ask you...
What's the difference between a street urchin running up on you trying to sell a chain stamped 14k gold when it's just a tin chain with gold paint?
This over-zealous move by Batteries Plus to sell fakes for the lure of dollars shows the same lack of class.
Although I certainly appreciate the existence of Batteries Plus, and the capitalist monopoly does serve a purpose (one choice is better than no choice?), however I do not feel that illegal activity should go unnoticed either.
If I sell fakes, chances are I'm going to jail, end of story.
Oh but when industry sells us fakes it's barely a topic, and any message I might convey about it turns the listeners ears numb. Let's face it, we've been desensitized to what industry can do "legal"y" to us. We see it in their foods that now contain poisons, their products made of plastics that ensure you will be replacing the items soon enough, and other illegal activity and more.
Why do you suppose that is?
