Although the previous welded gate made from spare parts has served adequately for about a decade, the gate has fallen into disrepair and must be replaced.
Indicated by the arrow is the old gate, to the left of the arrow is the completed replacement, but pretend you can't see it yet.
The old gate is seen in the background.
Quick thinking is what prompted me to locate an old Bee Box and scoop up what I could to create the square above-ground base. This created an integral footer / stem wall to the concrete that was in the ground.
Column is partially completed.
Seen here is the impromptu concrete base.
Some Steel
There is a VERY tall steel pole that has been added on top of the column in 2025. The reason the pole was added was to keep our gardening hose off of the grass and high enough to allow the tractor to drive under.
The pole was actually planned in advance which is why in one of the initial building stage is seen a pole in the center of some rebar (so the pole I added fits inside of the pole that was embedded into the concrete footer).
While out there it was decided to doll up some of the joints with my new nifty reverse concave jointer.
The completed images will be taken after I brush and finish the joints (and allow the work to cure to its final color)
