Refurbishing an old wooden bench

It's time to recycle that old aging bench

Wood had decayed beyond repair.

Old wooden slats Having endured the elements of the seasons for unknown numbers of years, the bench had become broken.

However, two of the replacement boards needed replacement again due to unacceptable deformities.

(When purchasing your replacement wood, make certain that you inspect the quality of the wood before you pay for it).

Add new stain and paint.

This phase was mom's department. She handled cleaning and painting the wrought iron as well as the priming and staining of the wooden slats.Mom delivers hot food, too!

Mom Stains Seen in the photo are a visible knot in the bottom wooden slat. As it turned out, two pieces of replacement wooden slats required twice being replaced due to bad wood. Failed replacement of wooden slats When purchasing your new wood, be attentive to any bows, fallen-out knots, splitting at the ends, and anything else that might hinder the successful replacement.

The darker areas located within the upper-left portion of the back wall was just completed and therefore not cured yet. It will lighten overnight to match the surrounding colors. This section shows images of the first phase of our patio installation completed in 2024.
